English courses for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

Learning a new language opens doors to new opportunities.

We have courses at all levels in ESOL all aimed at helping you to learn English for everyday use, to gain employment and to settle into life in the UK. By studying an ESOL course you will improve your overall communication skills from speaking to listening and reading and writing in English, you will also learn about life, work and volunteering in England and can gain nationally recognised qualifications in both English and maths.

If you live in Manchester or Greater Manchester and want to learn English, the Manchester ESOL Advice Service is here to help you. Not only can they help with your studies and make sure that you’re on the right course, but they can also signpost you to other support if you’re new to the UK.

To find out which course is right for you, go to the ESOL Advice Service website and complete the online assessment and one of the team will contact you.

How will I be taught?

All our ESOL courses are delivered in person with classroom-based learning.

You may also be required to carry out some level of online independent study in between sessions and will need a smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC and a good internet connection to do this.

Don’t worry if this is a new way of learning for you – our tutors will explain how online learning works and support you to do this. We also host Skill Up drop in workshops where you can brush up on your digital skills to help support your learning.
