Course overview

With recent innovations in technology and the changes in the way in which we communicate and receive information, there is high demand amongst companies and businesses for employees with digital marketing skills who can help promote their product and services and reach consumers. 

Our Level 2 Certificate in Digital Marketing will introduce you to the key principles of digital marketing via social media. You will learn how to plan, create, manage, and measure digital marketing campaigns. This course will give you a foundation for progression into higher level study and equip you with the skills, knowledge and competence to identify your own career goals within digital and creative industries and plan how you will meet them.

  • Location: Abraham Moss or Longsight Library Learning Centre
  • Teaching days: Tuesday (Abraham Moss), Tuesday & Thursday (Longsight)
  • Time: 9:30am-2:45pm (Abraham Moss), 12:30-2:45pm (Longsight)
  • Duration: 20 weeks

On this course you will study a total of four units – one mandatory unit and three specialist units over 90 guided learning hours. These units are as follows:

  • Social Media Marketing: In this unit, you will learn how social media marketing is used to promote products and services. You will understand how digital technologies, channels and platforms are used in social media marketing campaigns, and develop ideas and strategies to create and present a social media marketing campaign proposal for a particular product or service. 
  • Presentation Software: In this unit, you will develop your understanding of the use of presentation software for marketing and how to create effective presentations for different purposes and audiences. You will also learn about inclusive design and how to apply techniques to ensure presentations are accessible.  
  • Digital Skills Career progression: This unit will provide you with an understanding of the importance of digital skills in the workplace and how changes in employment have led to an increase in demand across a number of sectors. You will learn about the different types of job roles where digital skills are required, and the characteristics valued by employers to establish a successful career in today’s digital economy. You will work with our careers advisors to identify your own career or progression goals and plan how to meet them. 
  • Digital Skills Project: In this unit, you will develop the knowledge and skills to plan, develop and review a digital skills project: your social media marketing campaign. You will understand concepts of project management including planning, executing, monitoring and closing. Your project will be developed by you with support of your tutor and could involve: Website development (Google Sites), content creation for socials and creating a calendar planner to set up and manage posts.

Our Level 2 Certificate in Digital Marketing is taught in our digital marketing suites at Abraham Moss Adult Learning Centre and Longsight Library Learning Centre.

You will need a laptop or PC and a good internet connection to complete assignments throughout the course using Google Classroom and to also access learning materials and resources between sessions.

On this course, assessment takes place in the form of project observations, written assignments, professional discussions, presentations, oral questioning, witness testimonies and reflective accounts.

At the end of each unit, you will complete assessments that allow you to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and experience.

You will need Level 2 or above English and Maths to apply for this course.

You should have experience of using a computer and/or laptop, the internet and social media.
